BUILDING THE FOUNDATION

CDE's Building the Foundation course is the first step in a dynamic and rewarding journey.
Diversity and inclusion work is not swift: it is an iterative process of awareness building, information gathering, analysis, vision development, planning, and action. There is no magic shortcut. For both the seasoned practitioner and the newcomer, Building the Foundation frames equity, diversity, inclusion, healing justice, and liberation as a lifelong, fulfilling journey.
CDE facilitators ground in emergent practices, meeting each participant where they are in terms of their unique experiences and analysis. Throughout the course, CDE facilitators support individual participants in their analysis and action. We work with cohorts no larger than 20 people to allow for more meaningful interaction.
We start by creating a forum for deep learning, honest exploration, and open dialogue. From there, we begin to develop an understanding of our lives, relationships, and work. We explore the many dimensions of diversity in our personal and professional interactions.
Participants will:
- Develop a common language to describe the fundamental principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, justice, and liberation.
- Deeply explore individual lenses and filters.
- Build self-awareness.
- Evaluate and acknowledge problem areas (barriers to inclusion) and opportunity areas.
- Recognize the behaviors of racism and of inclusion.
- Evaluate the impact of equity, inclusion, and diversity in our work settings and our communities.
- Refine equity, diversity, inclusion skills & develop new tools for action-based solutions.
- Commit to a process that is, by nature, dynamic
Program Fees: Program tuition is $750, with lunch included. Once payment has been received, an email will be sent with details to complete your registration and prepare for your course.
